Here’s some information on what ARC readers do.
What is an ARC reader?
ARC stands for Advance Reader Copy. ARC readers are given ebook versions of a book prior to its launch so they can read it ahead of release day and write a review on Goodreads or Amazon. Logically, to be an ARC reader for Cienna Collins, you need to have an Amazon or Goodreads account (or preferably both).
What else does an ARC reader do?
You are also asked to act as a “street team”, by hitting social media to spread the word about how fabulous the book is – because of course you’re going to love it. If you don’t, perhaps keep that quiet 🙂
How long will I have to read the ebook?
You’ll have approximately three weeks. Hopefully, you’ll devour it in a couple of days if you love it.
The review
The review itself, doesn’t need to be an essay – just one or two sentences saying whether you would recommend the book and perhaps what you enjoyed most about it. No spoilers, please. The star rating is completely up to you. I don’t expect all 5-star ratings, so feel free to be honest, as that adds legitimacy to the reviews.
When should I leave the review?
It’s super important to leave your review within the date frame you are provided with (usually the week prior to launch), as the whole point is to boost sales during launch week. If you’re worried about remembering, don’t be – I’ll send you a reminder. But it’s a good idea to write your review as soon as you finish the book, so you have it ready to cut and paste. Easy peasy.
The 2024 schedule is as follows:
- 28.09.2024 – team closed
- 01.10.2024 – ebook ARC sent to readers
- 01.10.2024 – Goodread reviews commence
- 21.10.2024 – download link expires
- 05.11.2024 – book officially launched on Amazon
- Audiobook released (date TBA)
What if I fail to leave a review?
Life happens. All the time. And reviews aren’t compulsory. So you’re not going to get pushed head first into a hole, but you will be automatically unsubscribed from the ARC team for future books. This isn’t designed as a punishment. It’s simply that failing to leave a review tells me that you are not my intended audience so giving you a future book would be a waste of your time and mine.
How will I receive the ebook?
ARCs will be sent via Bookfunnel to your sign-up email address, which will allow you to open the epub in your choice of app.
